Permanent residence: Govt asks Kashmiri refugees to apply for land allotment

Revenue officials said that the department has set up committees to review applications submitted by these refugees

JHELUM: Refugees from Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are now eligible for land grants in Jhelum.

According to directives issued by the Punjab government, Kashmiri refugees currently residing on government land in Jhelum District, can now apply to have the lands they have been living on transferred to their name after due process.

In this regard, the Board of Revenue has asked refugees living in Jhelum to apply for the allotment of land till December 10.

Revenue officials said that the department has set up committees to review applications submitted by these refugees.

They added that possession documents, however, will only be handed over to the applicants after thorough scrutiny.
