Battling corruption: MQM, PML-F leaders join hands

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to join hands with opposition parties led by Pakistan Muslim League - Functional (PML-F) to denounce corruption and nepotism in Sindh. A meeting was held between PML-F leader Syed Sadarudin Shah Rashdi and an MQM delegation for the purpose at Rashdi’s house on Thursday.

Party leaders Dr Farooq Sattar and Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui were among those in attendance who discussed various issues in Sindh. After the meeting, Dr Sattar dispelled the impression that they discussed Musharraf’s intention to lead the MQM and said, “The government has neglected the urban areas and victimised the people living in rural Sindh.”

We spoke on different options to devise a strategy on how to tackle this situation, he said, calling the meeting ‘fruitful’. Rashdi said that the meeting aimed to resolve the differences between urban and rural residents and devise a mechanism to provide relief to the public.
