RAWALPINDI:
The Sadar Bairuni police late on Wednesday registered a case against a man for allegedly throwing acid on a schoolgirl after her family did not accept his marriage proposal for the girl.

The police also booked six other men and one unidentified person for helping Saif throw acid on RA* after her family rejected his proposal.

'Spurned' girl attacks man with acid

According to the First Investigation Report, lodged by RZ – the victim’s mother, RA left her home in Dhoke Baba Mureed near Jorian village on Wednesday morning to go to school. On the way, Saif and an unidentified boy, drove up to her on a motorcycle.

Saif allegedly threw acid on RA. However, she was able to raise her arms in time to shield most of her face with her hands. The acid, however, caused burns on her arms, an ear, and her neck.

After throwing the acid, the boys fled.


The victim’s mother told the police at Ranial post that her daughter managed to get back home and tell her about the incident. She added that Saif was angry with them for declining his proposal.

In the complaint, she said that Saif, a resident of Baraf Khana Chowk in Dhoke Syedan, with help from Tahir Shah, Qasim Shah, Sohail Shah, Anwar Shah, and Nasir Khan, threw acid on her daughter.

The police have registered an acid attack case against eight men under PPC Section 336-B (impairment and disfigurement), with additional charges of assault, abetment, and wrongful restraint also listed.

Sadar Bairuni SHO Yar Muhammad said that he was investigating the case himself. However, he could not contacted for further information about any arrests till the filing if this report.
