Calling for attention: Anemia, iron deficiency on the rise

Proper counselling and provision of medicines timely will help to reduce this issue

Anemia is when the blood is deficient in red blood cells and or its oxygen carrying pigment — hemoglobin.

KARACHI: The Sindh government is determined to take every effort to reduce iron deficiency and anaemia causing more complications for mothers during pregnancy, Dr Sikandar Mandhro said on Wednesday. Addressing a campaign aiming to reduce ‘Maternal anemia through engaging communities’ held by White Ribbon Alliance he emphasised the participants especially doctors and those who belong to health sector indirectly and media to play their role in highlighting the issue. He said proper counselling and provision of medicines timely will help to reduce this issue.
