LAHORE: A lawyer has gone to the Lahore High Court against the recent elevation of 14 additional judges. Advocate AK Dogar has alleged these appointments were made in violation of Article 8 of the Constitution and should be declared null and void. A petitioner, he added, had already filed a petition, requesting appointments of judges in accordance with the law, and before the decision on his petition, new judges had been appointed.

Dogar stated if these illegally appointed judges were allowed to act as LHC judges, it would amount to miscarriage of justice and damage the foundations of the country.

The recently promoted judges are Mujahid Mustaqim Ahmad, Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, Abdul Sattar, Habibullah Amir, Bashir Paracha, Asjad Javaid Ghural, Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Jawwad Hassan, Ahmad Raza Gillani, Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir, Mudassir Khalid Abbasi, Abdul Rehman Aurangzeb, Muhammad Ali and Chaudhry Abdul Aziz.
