KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has been tasked with the investigation of the killing of a senior police officer and a member of the Ahmadiyya community, who were shot in two separate attacks on Sunday.

On Monday, a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act was registered at CTD police station against unidentified people for killing DSP Faiz Ali Shigri on the complaint of his injured gunman Rasheed, said Sharae Faisal police SHO Raja Tariq.

Shigri, who was posted as traffic DSP at Airport section, was gunned down on Rashid Minhas Road. An hour and half before this incident, a member of Ahmadiyya community, 55-year-old Sajid Mehboob Sheikh, was killed outside his house in Kaneez Fatima Society. Meanwhile, another senior police officer, DSP Zafar Hussain, escaped an attack on him.
