Lack of documents: Police impound over 200 vehicles in capital

Meanwhile, 55 suspects were also held during checking in various areas

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Sunday said it had impounded over 200 vehicles which were being driven around the capital without proper documents.

Further, police said they had arrested three suspects and recovered 14 liters wine, a pistol along with ammunition from their possession.

Officials on Sunday said that various precincts in Islamabad had impounded 193 bikes and nine cars during snap-checking over the past 24 hours after their drivers could not produce valid documents.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Kiani had directed officials to remain vigilant in the city following which snap-checking was conducted in various areas leading to impounds.

Meanwhile, 55 suspects were also held during checking in various areas.

Furthermore, Karachi company police arrested a suspect, Jamshed, and recovered 14 liters wine from him.

Separately, Khanna police said that they had recovered one 30 bore illicit pistol from the possession of a suspect, Adeeb Shahzad.

Industrial-Area police arrested Toqeer Iqbal involved in illegally filling cylinders.

SSP Kiani has urged the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police about any suspicious activity taking place around them.

He directed all SHOs to patrol their areas, check duties themselves and brief their staff about effective checking techniques.
