Suspect remanded to police custody for three days.

ISLAMABAD: The police on Sunday said the results of a medical examination conducted on an alleged rape victim did not show signs of a sexual assault.

The Tarnol police on Saturday arrested a man* for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter*. On Sunday, police officials told The Express Tribune that a medical examination of the child carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) showed no result of an assault. “The child was inspected by a medical board consisting of a medico-legal officer, a child specialist, and a gynaecologist. The doctors concluded that there was no sign of any sexual assault,” a police investigator said. A doctor at the PIMS also confirmed this. The man had been booked on the complaint of his wife*, who claimed to have witnessed the attack in the early hours of November 25.

The police official said that in light of the medical findings, the allegation could be the result of a domestic dispute between the couple.

Earlier on Sunday, the Tarnol police produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate and obtained three-day physical remand for investigation purposes. The police said they will prepare their own report in the light of the medical report and their own investigation and will submit it before the magistrate. The suspect was in police custody when this report was filed on Sunday evening.

The family is from Sargodha and lives in the Jori Rajgan area near Sangjani.
