Cultural heritage: Bahawalpur Museum to be upgraded on modern lines

A social media page and website will be set up to provide E-access to antiques

BAHAWALPUR: The government would utilise all available resources to expand and modernise the infrastructure of Bahawalpur Museum.

Bahawalpur Museum Board of Governors Chairperson Chaudhry Saud Majeed said this while presiding over the meeting at Bahawalpur Museum on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar, MNA Perveen Masood Bhatti, DCO & Director Museum Dr. Ehtisham Anwer Mahar, MPA Shoaib Awaisi and others.

He said, “Bahawalpur Museum is the cultural and archaeological bastion which reflects splendid, glorious and shining heritage of our motherland.”

He maintained the galleries of the museum would be upgraded to meet the future requirements and to preserve the archaeological heritage.

On the occasion, Bahawalpur Commissioner Saqib Zafar said better display mechanism would be introduced to present precious antiques to visitors.

He said a new gallery would also be established to display the historic journey of Bahawalpur.

Meanwhile, the meeting decided to establish a social media page and website to provide E-access regarding antiques of the museum, computerisation of the record and to fill the vacant posts at the museum.

The meeting also decided to take effective measures to settle the issue regarding pension of the employees of the museum.
