KARACHI: Two people were killed and as many went missing as a fire erupted in a chemical storage tank at the Karachi port on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Arif and Tahir, said Jackson police station SHO Rao Khalid, adding that the search for two other people who went missing is under way.

At least nine fire tenders took part in the rescue operation but, even after three hours, were not able to put out the fire.

SHO Khalid said that the fire broke out when methanol was being pumped into a storage tank from a vessel anchored at the port.
