Baseball: Punjab, K-P win opening matches

Defeated Islamabad, FATA in their respective first round ties

KARACHI: Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) won their respective matches on the opening say of the 22nd National Baseball Championship being held at Aashiq Hussain Baseball Stadium, Bahria Town in Lahore yesterday.

In the first match, Punjab defeated Islamabad 10-6 as Muhammad Khawar, Azizur Rehman and Ali Khawar scored two runs apiece, with Wahid, Saad Hussain Butt, Fazal Rabbi and Zeeshan each contributing a single run.

For Islamabad, Talha and Tahir scored two runs apiece, whereas Saddam and Murtaza chipped in with solitary runs of their own.

In the second match, K-P defeated FATA 5-0 with the help of Naseem Khan and Sadeeq Ahmed, who scored two runs each before Adeeb Mustafa contributed with one run to the team’s winning cause.
