SWABI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) constable and injured an ASI of the force in Swabi district on Thursday.

The spokesperson of the Swabi police Liaquat Ali told The Express Tribune, ASI Fazli Akbar and Constable Tahir Khan were returning after performing their duty, when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at their police van at the Adina village. Ali added that the constable died on the spot and ASI Fazli received several shots on the upper torso. The ASI was rushed to a hospital in Peshawar for treatment.

The police have started a search operation in the village of Adina after the incident, the PRO said. The Namaz-e-Janaza of the slain police constable was offered at the Police station in Swabi on Thursday evening. All police officers of the district and elders of the area attended the funeral.
