Uks research centre on Thursday launched a series of 16 radio programmes to show solidarity with the 16 days of activism against Gender-based Violence Campaign, said a press release. This year’s theme is titled “From Peace in the home to peace in the world: Make education safe for all”. The radio series focuses on the issue in the national context. Each of the 10-minute  radio programmes would be made available daily on their official website from November 25 on each of the 16 days of activism. The first episode would also be transmitted on the radio. The transmission also aims to shed light on a wide array of socioeconomic barriers in girls’ access to their fundamental human right – education. Pakistan ranks – second last out of 144 countries – in the Gender Equality Index. Despite the formulation of several women protection laws and policies during the decade, Pakistan has registered an alarming increase in gender-based violence, the press release added.
