Heartbreak hotel: Manager arrested for not providing guests’ data

Four Indian nationals rented rooms at facility on IJ Principal Road

RAWALPINDI: New Town Police booked and arrested a local hotel manager for not sharing the data of four Indian nationals, including three women, who rented rooms at his facility on IJ Principal Road.

Police registered a case against hotel manager Muhammad Imran under the Punjab Temporary Resident Act 2015 and arrested him after information was provided by the Special Branch (SB).

An Indian family arrived in Pakistan and rented two rooms on November 12, 2016, at the Mahanama Hotel.

However, the management failed to share the complete information of their guests with the local police. The Indian nationals were identified as Muhammad Razzaq, Khurshid Begum, Tayyaba Razzaq and Mumtaz Begum.

The family checked out on November 14 after clearing their dues. Later, a surveillance team of the SB surveyed the area and detected a violation on the part of the hotel management. It later submitted a report to the CPO Office.

Taking action, CPO Israr Ahmed Abbasi ordered New Town SHO to lodge a case against the manager and arrest him.

Sub-Inspector Gulzar, who is leading the investigation, said the hotel manager had not submitted the D-form of the Indian nationals with the CPO Office or the local police station.

He said the head of the family, Razzaq, visited Pakistan for the admission of his daughter, Tayyaba, to a medical college in the federal capital. “The family is Muslim and entered Pakistan with valid visas,” he said.
