KARACHI: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) dominated proceedings on a curtailed first day of their third-round Pentangular Cup match against Balochistan in Lahore.
Put into bat, Balochistan struggled to 116 for four with Shoaib Khan scoring 41 including nine boundaries and Saeed Anwar junior making 28.
Both of them put on an invaluable 51 for the second wicket after Balochistan had got off to a dismal start, losing their first wicket with only eight runs on the board.
Nauman Habib was the pick of the bowlers snaring two wickets.
Balochistan will be hoping for a better performance from Naved Yasin and Sohaib Maqsood who will resume the innings today.
Punjab restrict Federal Areas
Only 23 overs were possible in the other match of the day, where Federal Areas reached a precarious 64 for three against Punjab.
The visitors’ decision to bat first backfired badly as Punjab’s bowlers excelled. Umar Amin provided some resistance, top-scoring with 24.
Opener Umair Khan was the other notable batsman, scoring a laboured innings of 15 not out. Mohammad Khalil was the most successful bowler picking up two wickets.
