Educational aid: CM approves buying 150,000 laptops  

Presiding the meeting, the CM said laptops of latest models should be bought at the earliest

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the purchase of 150,000 laptops in the current financial year that will be distributed among talented students across the province. The approval came during a meeting organised to review progress of matters of procurement of laptops for talented students of the province. Presiding the meeting, the CM said laptops of latest models should be bought at the earliest. “Distribution of laptops on merit was an important step towards empowering the youth,” he said. Shahbaz said effective steps were being taken for the promotion of information technology that was the need of the hour. He added that information technology labs had been set up by spending billions of rupees in schools across the province. Over 15,000 talented girls and boys of underprivileged families are studying at prestigious educational institutions through Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.
