SUKKUR: As many as 35 suspects were arrested during a targeted operation by Sukkur police and Rangers in Bagarji and its neighbouring areas on Saturday. They also recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

Sukkur SSP Amjad Ahmed Shaikh confirmed the arrest and informed that three of the suspects have been absconding in many cases. He also confirmed recovery of arms and ammunition from their possession adding that, those found innocent after investigation will be released.

Apart from this, Sukkur police also conducted a search operation at Central Prison, Sukkur.  While going through different cells, especially those in which members of the banned outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, were imprionsed, police found material with hate language inscribed on it, along with knives, wires and scissors.

Speaking about the search operation at the prison, Shaikh remarked it is quiet upsetting that hate material has reached these prisoners despite strict security measures. "We are going to bring this into the notice of the prison IG," he added.

A prison official, requesting anonymity, said that high-profile terrorists are living with ease at the prison. However, he claimed he did not know how the suspects were able to get hate material published.

Police also conducted operations in other parts of Sindh, including Ghotki, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore-Kandhkot.
