Fulfilling goals: K-P to conduct two cycles of anti-polio drive

Problems being faced in meeting the goals of the campaign also came under discussion

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to carry out two anti-polio vaccination campaigns in an effort to address the outbreak of the crippling disease.

This was decided in a meeting held at the civil secretariat in Peshawar which was chaired by K-P Chief Secretary Abid Saeed. The meeting was told that only 46 days were left to meet the deadline to completely eradicate polio virus from the province. Steps needed to eradicate polio virus from the province were also discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by representatives of World Health Organization (WHO), Unicef, K-P Secretary Health Abid Majeed, commissioners and deputy commissioners of the whole province besides other officers concerned.

Problems being faced in meeting the goals of the campaign also came under discussion. In addition positive steps were recommended to overcome those problems in future, a statement issued by the information department said.
