One piece three ways: Layla Chatoor

Three fashionistas showing us how to put together an item from a designers collection

November 20, 2016

While trends fade, style remains eternal and one piece can be put together in many different ways. In this feature we have three fashionistas showing us how to put together an item from a designers collection, according to their own individual style and taste!

Layla Chatoor’s 70s style statement boot-cut pants are right on this season’s trend with flare-cut embroidery and filigree motifs of nature. Choose to go subtle with a neutral top or be a diva in royal blue or bright red. The designer claims these pants are a must have for your winter wardrobe!

My avant-garde style is reflective of my personality. I decided to pair the Layla Chatoor pants with a midnight black sequined jacket to add a sultry retro-vintage feel to the outfit. It’s reminiscent of Warhol’s muse, Edith Sedgwick’s personal style, who I am heavily influenced by. To accentuate the glitzy black jacket, I paired it with my pearl-embellished sulphate blue tank top. The floral detail on the oatmeal pants complemented my chunky black platforms with gold buckles. The ensemble that I created didn’t require assistance from jewellery, as I opted for bold pieces with the statement pants. For my hair, I went for beach-waves. I would wear this outfit to a make a statement at a formal dinner.

My personal style is edgy, vintage and heavily inspired by the 90s. I love leather jackets, booties and chokers. I also tend to go bohemian sometimes, so it just depends on what I’m feeling. I paired these Layla Chatoor pants with a classic navy blue button down from Intermix and an open-back, white Club Monaco blazer. Without a doubt, the easiest way to pull any look together is by accessorising, therefore I added two statement pieces — my vintage Versace bag and my Ali Javeri Jewelers spiked gold bracelet. I tied the whole look together with white Jeffrey Campbell platform heels. For my hair, I got a voluminous blow-dry. I think this makes for a great daytime look.

I would describe my personal style as versatile and one that varies according to the occasion and how I’m feeling. I can go from simple to bold, but I generally prefer to keep it straightforward and chic. I wore these elegant Layla Chatoor pants with a cut-out top to complement the embroidery on the pants. This also added a formal touch to the silhouette. When it comes to my hair, I like going for a glamorous look, so I curled my hair loosely and backcombed it for a little volume. I kept my make-up simple with basic winged eyeliner and bronze blush on. I completed my outfit with nude heels and pearl drop earrings. I would wear these trendy pants on a formal occasion, be it a daytime tea, lunch or dinner.
