In agreement: Panel slams Imran’s parliament boycott

RAWALPINDI: A legal forum representing former servicemen criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for boycotting a joint session of parliament.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to address the session on November 17.

In a press statement, the Ex-Servicemen Society noted that it was against Islamic traditions and international norms to boycott a session addressed by an international leader. The forum termed the Turkish president’s address as a historic event.  Questioning Imran’s decision, they accused the cricketer-turned-politician of following an anti-Pakistan agenda. The representatives said the 120-day-long sit-in by the PTI in 2014 resulted in the cancellation of the Chinese president’s visit.

They asked executive body members of the PTI to reconsider their decision to boycott the session as the party needed to welcome a respected guest in the larger interest of Pakistan.
