PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai focuses on the marginalised section of society and hence they will receive 51% of the benefits of health insurance scheme.

He expressed these views during the inaugural ceremony of Regional Blood Centre in Hayatabad on Wednesday. “We have revamped things and we support the marginalised by providing them health insurance,” Tarakai said. He said that health, besides education, was the priority of the provincial government.

Established with the assistance of Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), a German bank at a cost of Rs190 million, the provincial health ministry took the lead after the country’s first-ever RBC was inaugurated with 60% assistance from KfW and 40% from the K-P government.

Tarakai stated that the government planned to establish such centres in Abbottabad, Swat and DI Khan in order to cater to the needs of people.
