‘Planted’ news: LHC raises objection over writ petition

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court raised objection over a writ petition filed to challenge the constitution of an inquiry committee that was appointed to probe the matter of the news leak controversy pertaining to national security.

The office raised objection that the notification copy of constitution of committee be attached with the writ petition.

Earlier, the inquiry committee formed by the government to investigate the news leak controversy pertaining to national security has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

Petitioner Ishtiaq Chaudhry submitted that the appointment of the committee’s head be declared void as the appointed person had personal relations with the ruling party’s chief and his family.

He requested the court to hand over the responsibility to investigate the news leak matter to an acting judge.
