Corruption cases: Petition challenging Sindh governor’s eligibility filed 

He requested the court to ask the federal government why legal action was not taken against the governor

LAHORE: A writ petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Wednesday challenging the governorship of Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad alleging he was not eligible for the said position as several corruption cases had emerged against him.

Petitioner Chaudhry Tahir raised objections over the appointment of Sindh governor. He submitted in the petition that Ishratul Ebad had dual nationality and was the beneficiary of National Reconciliation Ordinance. Therefore, he was not eligible for the slot of governorship.

He stated that a lot of corruption cases had been registered against him but the federal government played role of silent spectator rather than taking action against him.

He requested the court to ask the federal government why legal action was not taken against the governor. He stated an eligible person be appointed as the governor.
