As The Lahore Social turns two with a new look and an updated menu, COO Natasha Monnoo invites us in to tour the recently refurbished eatery

On a smoggy afternoon, we make our way to the newly renovated The Lahore Social (TLS). A custom brass and metal light installation mirrors our path into the hall, leading us into the dining room. Our hostess for the day, Natasha Monnoo, greets us with a warm smile and welcomes us in.

“The decision to renovate the Social came slowly. We really wanted it to be an organic process. One in which we listened to the needs of our guests, our staff, our consultants, the owners and what the space had to offer. The design reflects the aesthetics of our TLS family,” Monnoo explains.

Understated and sleek interior complement the contemporary art pieces and installations, which were created by an in-house design team, as the eatery had all the right human resources at their disposal. We look around and admire the way the clean, minimal palette in the room, highlight the rustic tiled floor. We notice how the upholstery has been changed to steel grey, a fresh muted change from the previous colourful one. The new interior draws a recognisable stylistic influence from France and Italy. A wooden centre table ornamented with vases, coffee table books, candles and a bowl full of chocolates provides the restaurant with a homey, warm ambiance.

“The dull gold podium is one of my favourite pieces here by large, it’s an inspiration from a couple of different podiums that I had seen abroad. I was able to incorporate a bit of all of them with the help of my family and our in-house design team, who have a great vision and made it all come together perfectly,” answers Monnoo, when we inquire about her favourite piece.

The primary focus behind the revamping of TLS is to connect the space to the food, a design terminology unique to the Social. Using the power of materiality, the bold atmosphere inside the main dining space reflects on the richness of the cuisine — both space and food represent a balance between comfort and vibrancy. The entry vestibule gives the guests the kind of welcome that sets a tone for the dining experience to follow. “We worked to execute a collective idea of what the new vision for the Social needed to be. We let in light, brightness and with it cheerfulness and flavour,” our host explains.

The re-launch of The Lahore Social meets the expectations of the new generation of restaurant goers who evaluate the ambiance along with the quality of the food. A well-designed restaurant where everything clicks: the meal, the service and the comforting vibe.
