Pakistan on Tuesday lodged a protest with India over 'unprovoked' ceasefire violations across the Line of Control (LoC).

Foreign Officer Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations on November 7, by Indian Forces across the LoC in Nikial and Jandrot sectors, resulting in the death of three civilians, including a woman, and injuries to four others, including a five-year-old boy, a statement from the Foreign Office read.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the director general urged India to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, investigate the continued incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, stop targeting the villages and civilians and maintain peace across the LoC.

Last month, Pakistan summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh, while lodging a protest against ceasefire violations along the Working Boundary by Indian Border Forces (BSF), Foreign Office said in a statement.

“It was conveyed to the Indian side that it should investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the Ceasefire in letter and spirit, refrain from intentionally targeting the villages and maintain peace on the Working Boundary,” the statement read.
