LAHORE: In a bid to expedite the promotion process, the provincial police department has decided to elevate all traffic wardens within two weeks.

In this regard, a high-level meeting was held at Central Police Office on Monday which was chaired by Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera. The meeting was attended by senior police officials.

During the meeting, Mushtaq Ahmad ordered the officials to prepare promotion cases of traffic wardens and call departmental promotion committee meetings as early as possible to ensure completion of the process within two weeks. He said delay in promotion cases of police officials will not be tolerated and letters of displeasure will be issued to those failing to complete promotion process on time.

Meanwhile, the IGP directed to take action against encroachments, unauthorised number plates, applied for vehicles and motorcycles.

He instructed the police officials to launch an operation against professional beggars in collaboration with excise, Lahore Development Authority and city district government departments, especially in areas of Shahdrah, Thokar Niaz Baig and Kahna.
