ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) has started to carry out physical verification of employees after receiving complaints against ‘ghost’ employees in different departments of the CDA which were recently transferred to the IMC.

Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, who also holds the additional charge of Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, said that stern action would be taken against ghost employees to ensure merit, good governance and transparency in the civic agency and the IMC.

The IMC public relations office said that physical verification of employees of the parks directorate and the environment wing was carried out on Monday, while verification of the remaining staff would be completed over the next two days. IMC Chief Officer Muhammad Suleman Khan Warriach supervised the verification of environment wing employees in the presence of senior environment wing officers.

Warriach said that they had started implementing some reforms on the directions of Mayor Aziz. “Under these reforms, the One Window Operations (OWO) Directorate is being upgraded and procedures are being automated,” he said, adding that staff that had been deputed in the land directorate for many years had been transferred on the directions of the mayor.
