Wedding extravaganza: Get ready for your big day

Bridal Expo brings designers, decorators photographers together in solution for all wedding woes

LAHORE: Anyone who has ever been in the position knows that arranging a wedding for hundreds of guests is no piece of cake. Weddings in Pakistan often morph into grand events spread over a number of days, so much so that people have crafted an entire industry out of arranging them.

From the clothing and jewelry designers that make the bride’s opulent ensembles to makeup artists, home stores, event managers and caterers; there is a veritable assembly line of enterprising people who pledge to relieve your stress by taking care of the details for you. The Bridal Expo brought these entrepreneurs under one roof on Saturday, at Lahore’s The Park Lane Marquee, hoping to be a one-stop solution for anyone getting married within the near future. The Marquee was transformed by Sania Hasnain Ali and Alyzeh Rahim Shirazi of The Exhibit, featuring various stalls by these entrepreneurs.



Of course, no bridal expo is complete without fashion designers, who had carefully curated a selection of designs for the big day. HSY and Sania Maskatiya showcased as two designers with an existing retail presence. Others such as Ali Xeeshan, Rema & Shehrbano, Shamsha Hashwani, Arjumand Bano, Boho, Barae Khanom, Hem, Morri and Sash & Co attracted swarms of people, considering they are generally harder to approach and have no standalone stores. Amene and Blood Orange were also on display as the only two lounge wear brands.

The event saw an hour long presentation by HSY, Sania Maskatiya and The House of Kamiar Rokni, each of whom showed two ensembles from their PLBW collection, with makeup done by Zoya Nasir of Sabs Salon. About the looks she created, Nasir said, “For HSY, I created my version of a fall bride who was wearing bronze with gold detailing. I gave her a dusky golden glow with burgundy smoked out eyes and strong brows.”

Maskatiya’s look was inspired more by winters. “Her white shimmering dress, with mint hints, was perfect for my signature sky high winged eyeliner and frosty pink lips. The model’s eyes were enhanced with white sparkle and mint green on the outer corners,” shared the makeup artist. “The model wearing The House of Kamiar Rokni was your traditional regal bride. Dark red lips, maroon eyes, tight bun with a new hive to go with the dress that defines our culture.”
