Kidney Scam: Police get remand of doctor involved

RAWALPINDI: Police on Monday obtained custody of a doctor implicated in organ smuggling scam for interrogation. On request of the police, Magistrate Waqar Mansoor Baryar also issued arrest warrants for Dr Zahid Iqbal, the owner of Kidney Centre Hospital at Morgah, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Dr Tauseef Ahmed, and cashier Laeeq Ahmed who remain at large in the kidney scandal. Rawat police submitted before Magistrate Baryar that they wanted to interrogate Dr Raja Mahmood who worked at the hospital where the alleged kidney transplant business was being run. The court sent three other suspects, Zafar Iqbal, the owner of the plaza, Faqeer Hussain, ambulance driver and Shehzad Qayyum Shani a middleman to Adiala Jail for 14 days.
