FIA director Shahid Hayat hospitalised in Nairobi

The senior police officer is suffering from pneumonia, lung failure

Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Karachi director Shahid Hayat fell seriously ill on Sunday, and was admitted to a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Express News, the senior police officer, who is on a staff tour in Nairobi, was admitted to Agha Khan hospital due to pneumonia, which then caused lung failure.

Upon FIA plea, Kamal promises to assist probe

While the officer's family has left for the African city, medics have reportedly observed improvement in his condition.

"Health condition of Shahid Hayat is improving rapidly," Asim Qaimkhani, Acting Director FIA Sindh, said in a statement on Monday.

Hayat is one of the officers who initiated the Karachi operation in 2013, and has served on key posts.
