Upholding democratic norms: PSP criticises govt’s ‘unlawful’ reaction

Kamal criticises ruling party, say they don’t want a fair census to occur as they fear that they will lose their seats

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal criticised the federal government for what he believed was an ‘unlawful and unconstitutional’ reaction to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest campaign in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He was speaking at the PSP general workers’ meeting at PECHS on Sunday. Kamal said that PSP supported democratic norms of right to protest and condemned the methodology of the federal government to stop it. “PTI and Sheikh Rasheed did not take the law in their hands,” he remarked. Karachi was once the city of white collar people but today the situation had become worse and people have less access to safe drinking water, said the former mayor. Criticising the ruling party and other political parties, he said that they don’t want a fair census to occur as they fear that they will lose their seats.
