KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday postponed the implementation of his earlier order to close marriage halls by 10pm, till February 1.
Earlier this month, Shah directed authorities to ensure that all weddings are wrapped up by 10pm, commencing November 1. He had directed the Karachi commissioner to speak to owners of marriage halls and convince them to adhere to the new rule. “This will not affect their business and is in the interest of everyone,” he said.

However, during a meeting with Minister of Industry Manzoor Wassan today, the chief minister was told that it would be difficult to implement the order from November 1 as all halls have been booked till January.
Thus, understanding that the implementation would cause problems for those who have already made arrangements, CM decided to postpone the ban until February 1.

Further, another momentous decision which the CM took in October was to close all markets, shopping malls and shops by 7pm. “I have no problems with how early you open your markets or shops but the closing time is 7pm,” he said, adding that again this will not adversely affect business and is an attempt to rationalise business hours.
