FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has expressed concern over the seizure of export containers en route Karachi Port by police and other agencies in Punjab, which it said has put export orders worth billions of rupees at stake.

Orders are feared getting cancelled, said PTEA Chairman Ajmal Farooq, adding that this would not only result in huge losses to exporters but also the national exchequer.

These types of activities will cripple exports, which are the lifeline and backbone of the country’s economy, he said. The country’s exports are already declining and a crisis like this poses a serious threat to the viability of the industry, said Farooq.

Farooq urged the government to intervene and ensure the movement of export containers.
