ISLAMABAD: Dozens of contractual and daily wage employees of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), more commonly known as Radio Pakistan, have not been paid their salaries since August. “The last salary we received was for July,” said a contractual employee in the news department. “Officials tell us that funds have not been released by the AGPR.” Those who have not been paid include editorial staff working in Urdu and regional languages units as well as the web desk. A Radio Pakistan spokesperson said the organisation had been facing financial crunch. He said contractual employees were not working on sanctioned posts and not being paid from salary funds. The spokesperson said PBC requested the government for a special grant which was not approved.
