Illegal operation: Police seal three blood banks in Bahawalpur

Around 51 pints of bloods that were kept without properly maintaining temperature were seized

BAHAWALPUR: Police arrested four suspects and sealed three blood banks during a raid in Bahawalpur on Friday.

Bahawalpur Assistant Commissioner Rao Tasleem Akhter said Al-Minhaj Thalassemia Center, Dua Thalassemia Center and Al-Rehmat blood bank were found operating illegally at different places in the city.

He claimed they have recovered fake stamps of Bahawal Victoria Hospital, substandard cannulas and other equipment used for blood transfusion.

During the raids, around 51 pints of bloods that were kept without properly maintaining temperature were seized.

Moreover, these blood pints carried no expiry date and date of collection, he said, adding the confiscated blood bags have been sent to the laboratory for chemical examination.

A case has been registered at Kotwali police station against the owners of these blood banks.
