ISLAMABAD: A sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail applications of two men arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old boy.

Akhtar Hussain and Muhammad Aslam, the suspects, were arrested by the Khanna police after they allegedly assaulted the victim* in Garden Town on September 6.

The suspects were handed over into police custody and were later sent to jail on judicial remand. A few weeks ago, the suspects had filed bail applications in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Wajid Ali. The court, however, rejected their bail pleas on Thursday after going through the police record.

ASI Muhammad Farooq, who is the investigation officer for the case, said both suspects and the victim worked as daily-wage labourers in the capital. The victim and one of the suspects were from the same village in DG Khan, while the other suspect is from Lahore. The case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s older brother.

Investigators asserted that the suspects were guilty of the crime.

“The suspects have even confessed to committing the crime before the judge,” said the investigation officer. The police have submitted the charge-sheet to the court, but the suspects have not been formally charged yet.
