LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed six food outlets and imposed fines on five shopkeepers on Wednesday for selling substandard and unhygienic food. Food safety officers in Aziz Bhatti and Wagha Towns sealed Cakes & Bakes over poor cleanliness at the outlet. “We found insects and rusty, broken freezers at the bakery,” an official said, adding that workers were unaware of food and hygiene regulations and did not have requisite food medical certificates.

The PFA also penalised Fine Pizza in the same neighbourhood on Zarar Shaheed Road on unhygienic practices. The food outlet did not have proper arrangements for insect control, said an official.

Afzal Naqibia and Data Ali Hajveri naan shop were also sealed on the same charges.
