Unfair charge: Najib Malik gets bail

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday granted protective bail, till February 24, to Najeeb Ullah Malik, a member of the Federal Public Service Commission and former federal secretary for information technology. Malik, through his counsel, contended that he was dragged in a false case.

His counsel argued that Zain Iftikhar’s, a consultant in the IT ministry, LLB degree from Bahauddin Zakarriya University, Multan had turned out to be a fake. FIA Islamabad had registered a case against him and had accused Malik of recommending Zain’s appointment with malafide intentions. Malik’s lawyer told the court that the accusation were untrue and requested that he be given bail before arrest because Malik feared arrest on his arrival in Islamabad.

The court granted Malik protective bail till February 24 after issuing directions that surety bonds worth Rs100,000 be submitted.
