Unofficial Test: Zain half-century takes Pakistan A to 284-5

Opener makes 78 as side posts 279 runs on second day against Zimbabwe A

KARACHI: A half-century by opener Zain Abbas helped Pakistan A reach 284 on the second day of their first unofficial Test against Zimbabwe A at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe yesterday.

Pakistan resumed their first innings on 5-0 and added 279 runs on the second day as Abbas made 78 runs off 168 balls while Umar Amin, Jaahid Ali and captain Sohaib Maqsood made 30, 32 and 41 runs respectively.

At the end of play, Pakistan A were on 284-5 with Saad Ali (51) and Saifullah Bangash (38) on the crease.

Zimbabwe A stun Pakistan A

For Zimbabwe A, John Nyumbu claimed two wickets, while Carl Mumba and Crian Vitori dismissed one batsman apiece.

Earlier on day one, Zimbabwe A made 346 in their first innings as Brain Chari and Sean Williams made 118 and 112 runs respectively.

Zimbabwe A trounce Pakistan A by 105 runs

Skipper Elton Chigumbura, with his 32-run knock was the only other batsman to make any score of note.

For Pakistan A, Shadab Khan took four wickets, while Muhammad Asghar, Ghulam Mudasar and Mir Hamza took three, two and one wickets respectively.
