MUZAFFARABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday reiterated his country’s proposal to demilitarise Jammu and Kashmir and give Kashmiris the right of self-determination to decide their future.

While addressing the joint sitting of AJK Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council, the president condemned the recent killings in Indian Occupied Kashmir and called on Delhi to give access to international human rights organisations.

“India should release all political prisoners, lift the longest curfew and restore the freedom of expression in IOK. It should also ban the use of pellet guns and other lethal weapons against the innocent Kashmiris,” he said.

He appealed to the international community and human rights organisations to take notice of the human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

“The silence of the world community on the gross human rights abuses in Kashmir Valley may put the regional peace at stake,” Mamnoon said.
