Three FC soldiers gunned down in Quetta

QUETTA: Three paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC)soldiers were killed when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate firing in the provincial metropolis on Friday.

At the time of the attack, the soldiers were patrolling the Spini-Sabzal Cross neighbourhood in west Quetta. They were walking towards Sur Pul checkpoint when a volley of bullets struck them in the head.

“Two of them died on the spot while the third succumbed to his injuries in the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema told reporters at the crime scene.

The attackers fled the crime scene unchecked. Rescue workers, along with a heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

The deceased were identified as Arif, Abdul Latif and Faizullah.

“The crime investigation team has recovered 10 rounds of ammunition from the spot,” Cheema said. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. It was the major third attack on FC patrol teams since last June.
