Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, many actors have spoken out on the recent deteriorating relations within the film and television industry.

One actor who had not until now released a statement on the matter has finally spoken out. Fawad Khan took to his Facebook page today and broke his silence.

Here's Humayun Saeed's take on the Bollywood ban on Pakistani actors

"I've been in Lahore since July as my wife and I had been expecting our second child. I've received numerous requests from the media and from well wishers worldwide asking me for my thoughts on the sad incidents that took place in the past few weeks," he wrote.

"As a father of two little children, I pray and wish like many others that together we can build and live in a more peaceful world. I believe we owe it to our children who will shape our tomorrow," he added.

Pakistani cinemas not to screen Indian films indefinitely

Further, he said, "This is the first time I have spoken on the matter. Please disregard any other words attributed to me during this time because I have not said them. I thank all my fans and fellow artists from Pakistan, India and people in general all over the world who have shown continued support for their belief in love and understanding to unite a divisive world."

In the wake of worsening Indo-Pak ties, many in India called for a ban on Pakistani actors. This was soon followed by a Pakistani ban on Bollywood films across cinemas nationwide.

Cinema owners in Pakistan have also decided not to screen any Indian movies until tensions between two countries recede.

Ali Sadiq | 7 years ago | Reply Dear Mr Fawad Khan, it would not have been a disgrace had you said a few words in the honor of your country. Its after all not an ordinary situation and we are on the brink of an escalated situation with India. You see, this response you are getting from India was always on the cards, and you were always gonna return to Pakistan and spend your rest of the days here. Don't break hearts in Pakistan, you are whatever you are because of it. Pakistan will always be your core audience and if you lose your audience here, no other country will ever give you the same level of respect.
