It appears that Batman is not so sad after all! During a recent interview for his latest film, The Accountant, Hollywood heartthrob Ben Affleck – who is the latest actor to take on the role of Gotham City’s masked superhero – was asked what he thought of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As it turned out, the 44-year-old is quite pleased with the final product, despite memes and videos made of him looking sad while on press junkets doing the rounds over the internet. “I loved it,” The Hollywood Reporter quoted Affleck as saying. “It has been the biggest hit of my career and had a lot of editorial negativity. However, I think with the reviews… the fans went, and I got a lot of positive response. I think that was interesting because Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was not necessarily judged on its execution so much as its tone.”

The reviews for the film were not stellar. However, it opened on the top spot at the box office and went on to gross more than $873 million worldwide. “Some people… they seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie and I thought that was interesting because that’s subjective,” added the Gone Girl star. “Tone isn’t like a qualitative thing, it’s subjective, right? Some tones resonate with me but might not do so with you. And the tone of the film was really parallel to the Frank Miller book, which I liked and thought was great. I’m glad that so many people went and so many people liked the movie and it all worked out.”

Affleck is now gearing up for the release of The Accountant, an action-thriller also starring Anna Kendrick as the female lead. The film is set to hit theatres on October 20, after which Affleck will be seen in Live by Night.
