BAHAWALPUR: Government employees staged a protest for not regularising the contractual employees of water management on Monday.

While addressing the demonstration, protesters said more than 1,800 employees of the water management were still waiting for job regularisation across the province. They said on the orders of Punjab chief minister, hundreds of contractual employees were regularised, while water management staff was neglected. They said earlier on April 4, 2010 former provincial agriculture minister Ahmad Ali promised to regularise the employees within a week but in vain. They said the poor employees had been waiting to get their jobs regularised for the last 12 years.

They lamented the agriculture secretary ordered to lay off these workers by June 2017. They threatened the agitated employees of water management will commit suicide along with their families in front of the CM house if any employee was sacked.
