LAHORE:
Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lt Gen (Retired) Muzammil Hussain has pressed the project management team to put in their maximum efforts in order to complete the 1,410-megawatt Tarbela 4th Extension project as early as possible.

Besides accelerating the pace of work, the required quality standards must be adhered to, he said. Hussain expressed these views during a visit to the project site on Monday. “Energy and water supplies are the most critical requirements of the country and are in dire need of improvement,” he said.

Discussions with project authorities, consultants and contractors were aimed at meeting the timelines for completion of the hydroelectric power extension project.

The Tarbela 4th Extension project is being constructed on tunnel 4 of the Tarbela Dam. It will increase generation capacity of the Tarbela power station from 3,478MW to 4,888MW, after installation of three units of 470MW each.

Earlier, the Wapda chairman visited the Wapda Cadet College, Tarbela and reviewed the facilities being provided to students with regard to curricular and co-curricular activities. He also discussed with the college administration ways and means to improve the facilities for imparting quality education to the students.
