With the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) calling for a ban on Pakistani actors in the wake of the Uri attack, the makers of Mahira Khan starrer Raees are said to be looking into delaying the film's release.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, and co-produced by Shah Rukh and Farhan Akhtar, Raees was slated to release on January 26, 2017. The release is expected to be delayed due to the presence of Pakistani actor Mahira Khan, Hindustan Times reports.

Would like to play female version of Raees, says Mahira Khan

The film had earlier been under the scanner previously due to its clash with Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil. “SRK’s film is introducing Mahira. After the MNS asked all Pakistani actors to return to their country in the wake of the Uri terror attacks, the makers are now worried this development can severely affect the business of the film,” the newspaper quotes a source as saying.

Jitters: Excited, nervous for ‘Raees’, says Mahira Khan

The source also revealed that SRK who is in Amsterdam to shoot his upcoming film alongside Anushka Sharma had been speaking to his team regarding the fim's fate.

“Because of the MNS, the makers want to push the release date to avoid double losses. Also, they can’t afford to have the movie boycotted at the last moment due to the current tension between India and Pakistan. If the film is postponed, it will be a big win for Hrithik. Both Dilwale and Fan didn’t fare well at the box office. So, SRK will avoid taking a risk like that,” the source added.

However, the reports could not be confirmed as the makers of the film remained unavailable for comments.

Shaukat | 7 years ago | Reply The answer is no. Actually Rakesh Roshan had booked the release date earlier for his upcoming movie Kaabil. He is not ready to postpone the same. Fearing loss of revenue due to competition, SRK is willing to shift the release date. No connection whatsoever with Mahira.
