LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has decided to take action against unlawful sub-campuses, affiliations and franchises of private sector degree awarding institutions (DAIs) in Punjab, according to a press statement issued on Thursday.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PHEC to address issues of unlawful sub-campuses, affiliations and franchises of private educational institutes. The meeting was headed by PHEC Chairperson Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin where the commission decided that any unlawful sub-campus of private institution would not be allowed to operate. The attention of the commission was drawn towards the newly-established sub-campus of University of South Asia in Gujrat without the approval from the governor.

The commission showed serious concerns and decided to direct the university to immediately close its sub-campus.
