ALLAHABAD: A woman submitted an application to Liaqatpur SHO against a constable for torturing her son. Busti Hussain resident Zubaida Mai recently submitted an application with the SHO blaming a police official for beating up her son.

Zubaida said that she was going to chowk Farid with her ailing husband and her son Muhammad Hussain on a rickshaw when they were stopped by three traffic constables.

Zubaida said that constable Abdul Khaliq Langa and two others demanded that they pay them Rs1,000. “We refused to pay them and then they pulled my son out of the vehicle and beat him,” she said, adding that the traffic officials had also snatched Hussain’s cell phone.  “The men stole my gold ring and necklace and when my husband and I tried to intervene they pushed us to the ground,” she said, adding that the men beat up her son with a stick.

Zubaida demanded that the police take strict action against the accused and that they be suspended.

“We were told that these officials had abused other people for refusing to pay them,” Zubaida’s son Hussain told the police.
