Police politics: 2 police vacancies causing problems for citizens

DASKA:
Residents of the district have filed several complaints with regards to police performance. Daska residents said that due to the unavailability of the heads of two police stations, the security situation in the district had been seriously compromised. Police officials said that the Sambrial DSP had been transferred two months ago and no appointment had been made on this post as yet. Meanwhile, DSP Daska has been suspended due to alleged corruption and poor performance by senior police officials.
Residents have said that many of them now have to travel to Sambrial to register complaints as it has become incredibly problematic to deal with the Daska police department. Several residents told reporters that their seemed to be an unspoken tug-of-war between the DSP Daska and his senior police officials which had led to his suspension. “Even now many of the police officials who support the former DSP have refused to comply with official directives,” they said.
This situation has been brewing for over three months and locals have complained of its impact on the security situation in the district.
