Ensuring security: ‘Countries should cooperate on bio safety problems’

Nations need to work together to resolve their bio-security problems. This was stated by State Minister for Education Muhammad Balighur Rehman while speaking at a joint Pakistan-US workshop on strengthening and sustaining a network of public and animal health clinical laboratories in Pakistan.

The minister said, there are concerns regarding the misuse of biological research and concerned labs. He added that research carried out in various areas of life sciences, biotechnology, can have an impact on generations to come. Hence, the minister emphasized the need for international cooperation on the matter as efforts by individual countries is not enough to solve problems.

The minister also appreciated the vision of Pakistan Academy of Sciences for addressing issues of great national importance.
